Another snow day from school provided the impetus to create a PBL for my Life Science class. My Earth Science class is already immersed in a project on Natural Disasters. Several students and their parents emailed me today while we were all home from school. How can all my classes keep up? The answer is to create an interesting project the kids can work on from home or at school. So I was looking for PBL ideas for my Life Science class and ran across the idea of Designer Babies. Perfect. My class has been hit by snow days bogging down a genetics unit. Why not locate an interesting lesson to compliment genetics and foster and understanding of DNA? The kids will continue to do the planned activities and do some critical thinking.
