Apologia and WA Electricity: Resources and Ideas
Once the kids have worked through the module, created a cmap and time-line, it is time to start the activities. My kids begin with static electricity and strips of cellophane tape. How Do the Pieces of Tape Interact?. The second activity on this link bends water. I love this demo. Create a very thin stream of water. Charge a glass rod or balloon with static electricity by rubbing it on your hair. Hold the balloon or glass rod next to the stream and watch the stream bend towards the balloon. Be sure the demo is conducted on a dry day; if high relative humidity can interfere with the static charge. Here is a video which explains this in detail.
