Discrepant Events: Demos which make kids think

We did the Disappearing Beaker and Hide the Cookie in the Box in class.  Both of these activities are great examples of discrepant events.  I use these types of demos as part of inquiry based science education in all of my science classes.  Science World has loads of classic examples, such as the 'come-back can'.  The Exploratorium has two classics: Head Harps and flipsticks.  Try these!  Won't you have fun!
