WA: Physical Science

The Physical Science class continues to review nomenclature, types of chemical reactions, and how to balance equations.  This material will be part of the course all semester.  The girls began a unit on Heat, Thursday, plotting a Heat Curve and crushing cans.  The girls were introduced to some technology, the Easy Data app on the TI 84 and Pasco's Airlink with Sparkvue.  The girls will do a lab from Tops Science on convection and conduction, Radiation lab,  Endothermic lab, and a Heat transfer lab, next week.  The class will have a number of new terms to define.  Below are the main topics for the girls to understand.
1. What is thermodynamics?
2. Explain a heating curve in terms of phase change.
3. Compare radiation, conduction, and convection.
4. Differentiate between an exothermic and endothermic reaction.
5. What is the direction of Heat flow?
