More and more often, even lessons are being sold by teachers. Come on! There are plenty of excellent resources. You do need background information to help craft good lessons. Here is some good material.
1. The National Parks Service (NPS) has Rocks and Minerals with a video, It’s All About Rocks, It’s All About Minerals, How Rocks are Classified, and more.
2. Home Science Tools has Rocks and Minerals and Rock Cycle or this Rock Cycle for older kiddos.
3. The Smithsonian has a Geology Collection of lessons, videos, fact sheets, etc. (Only one link was broken—the poster.)
4. Cut and tape mineral crystal shapes dovetails with this lesson, Shape in Nature.
