This morning I differentiated instruction in class. One student really wanted to do Celery Soaks It Up! I decided C. could do the experiment and prepare celery for the class, too. Everyone is using celery slices for slides. C. is timing the rate celery absorbs food coloring. As he worked, the class used USB, battery powered, and traditional microscopes to observe and sketch Botany slides. Yes, the kids with the USB microscopes like to examine their arms, letters, and the tabletop, too. As long as they get back on task, that’s fine. We used cell phone adaptors with the inexpensive, battery-powered microscopes. The quality is quite good.
