The most popular experiments I do with kiddos involves Chemistry. They love to see this mixture bubble and change color. Skip the Mentos and Coke experiment. (Okay, one experiment!) Let me share a bunch of fun soda pop experiments. Start with The Secret Science of Soda Pop.
Soda Pop
1. Make Your Own Soda Pop. Have a little sugar and lemon juice to help flavor their drinks.
2. Pasta with Pep, Dancing Popcorn, and Dancing Raisins are simple and fun. See if they will dance in the homemade soda pop as well as they dance in club soda or Sprite. Try a mix of baking soda and vinegar, too.
3. Make Invisible Soda.
4. Fizz Bizz involves clear soda and compares reactions between mentos (mini), M&Ms, and Skittkes.
5. Pop Rock Expanders allows CO2 to expand a balloon. Self-Inflating Forky uses citric acid and baking soda to inflate a balloon. Try adding a little salt, too.
