Color Chemistry

Just like you are, I am tempted by STEM kits.  Crayola’s Color Chemistry Set is a good example of a STEM kit.  Now look at the contents.  There is a spinner to color.  You can make them!  This spinner shows how to make your own templates.  Make optical illusion spinners.  Here is one more spinner suggestion.  The Crayola Color Chemistry Set includes slime.  Here and here are examples of DIY color changing slime.  The Crayola Set has fizzy tablets.  Color fizzers contain pigment, citric acid, and baking soda.  Mix citric acid, baking soda, and a bit of paint pigment to make your own fizzy crystals.  Mix the crystals with instant snow.  The Crayola Set includes sodium alginate.  Make your own gummy worms.  Just add glow powder.  Yes, it takes more effort to create your own color chemistry experiments.  It’s worth it!
