Module 9: Experiment 9.1 and 9.2
Our Co-op is working remotely. Below are two videos demonstrating Experiments 9.1 and 9.2. Here is another lab which is similar to Experiment 9.2. The concept in Experiment 9.2 is "Like dissolves Like." This means that similar solutes dissolve in similar solvents. Ionic compounds dissolve in polar solvents, such as water. Covalent compounds, such as sugar, dissolve in nonpolar solvents, such as oil. "Like dissolves Like" is useful for removing stains. Here is an article.
