Fruit and Flower Dissections

 My Biology Co-op class is NOT ready for the Botany module.  The daffodils are already starting to bloom in our area.  Lilies are also good flowers to dissect.  Let me get ahead and share some fruit and flower dissection links:  Daffodil Flower Dissection, Exploratorium’s Flower Dissection, Flowers (with crafts), and Home Science Tools Flower Dissection Lab.  Next up are fruit dissection labs: Exploratorium’s Fruit Dissection, What Am I Eating?, Fruit Dissection (with an apple), and Fruit, Seeds, and Their Dispersal (all 27 pages).  

Fruit and Flower Dissections are good family projects, especially if younger children are studying Botany. Why not make a lapbook?  You might want to launch a unit on nutrition?  Compare nutritional information from The Sugar Association, Idaho Potato, Mayo Clinic  or Nutrition.gov, which has ‘My Plate’ activities.  Work as a family to select activities for the lapbook.
