Mad Science: Color Theory Fun!

Okay, is color mixing art or science?  Vernier has a Color Theory experiment using flashlights and cellophane.  Here are details using cellophane pieces to mix colors and intensify colors.  What can you make?  Littles can make color paddles, similar to color mixing lenses.  You can make cling art, too.  Want more science with color?  Make homemade chalk.  We mix ours in 3 oz. plastic cups; the chalk slips right out when it dries.  Buy one set of Crayola 3D Chalk with glasses.  Blend batches of different colored chalk and use the glasses to see the art in 3D.  The science is Chromadepth.  Red and blue chalk work best to produce 3D.  We have tried inexpensive 3D glasses at Camp with poor results.  We found it worked better to share the Crayola glasses.  Campers decided 3D chalk qualified as science.  The kids made murals outside after Camp for an hour.  I can attest 3D chalk was a hit.
