What a great idea!  Let’s combine crystals with art.  Good Will has a listing for Science Art Fusion Crystals Kit.  Now the combined price of the kit and shipping are about the same as a new retail kit.  But, you can use this idea for your own crystal projects.  Start with these crystal growing ideas and supplies from Home Science Tools.  Make shapes with pipe cleaners and dip them into the crystal solutions.  Paint the crystal solutions on to paper to create pictures.  Look at Steve Spangler’s site for directions to make crystal ornaments. (Make your own shapes instead.). Here is a link for salt crystal painting.  Now make this more of a stem project.  Which types of crystals are better for painting: alum, borax, salt, or sugar?  Which type of crystals form first?  Do the crystals form more quickly if seeded?  I imagine you have some time on your hands.  Let’s combine art with science.
