Module 2 Experiment 2.2 is Measuring the Specific Heat of a Metal. My kids have iron nails, steel washers, and a lead sinker. Specific Heat is always a tough topic. The idea is that you heat the Metals in boiling water—at least ten minutes. You take the metal and put it in cold water. Lastly you measure how many degrees the temperature of the cold water rises. Theoretically, all of the heat from the metal sample is transferred to the cold water. In reality Heat is lost as the metal is transferred and from the cup. Here is a slideshow about specific heat.
